Donna Dixon is a retired American actress, model and beauty contestant probably best known for the role of Sunny Lumet on the 1980 to 1982 TV series "Bosom Buddies."
She was born Donna Lynn Dixon on July 20, 1957, the daughter of Earl Dixon who owned the Hillbilly Heaven nightclub on US Highway One near Lorton, Virginia, and attended Goverton High School. She later went to George Washington University where she studied anthropology, but she dropped out when she became a model, later becoming Miss Virginia USA in 1976 and Miss Washington D.C. Her incredible good looks soon parlayed her into roles on television, such as the TV series "The Love Boat" and the TV movie "Margin For Murder."
Donna reached incredible stardom as the girlfriend of Tom Hanks on the short-lived TV series, "Bosom Buddies," which became a bit of a cult hit after it was cancelled. She made the movie, "Doctor Detroit," with comic actor Dan Aykroyd, reuniting with him again in the cast of "Twilight Zone: The Movie" where they starred in separate storylines. She briefly dated and was once engaged to Paul Stanley, one of the lead singers of the rock group KISS, but they later broke up. Stanley reportedly wrote the song, "I Still Love You," after she ended their engagement.
Donna later dated and married Aykroyd, her co-star from "Doctor Detroit." They starred together in the movie, "Spies Like Us," with Chevy Chase. She also starred in the TV movie "No Man's Land" with Stella Stevens and episodes of "Hawaiian Eye," "Berrenger's," "The Charmed Ones," "Who's The Boss" and "Moonlighting," but her movie career stalled in movies like "Lucky Stiff" and "Speed Zone" with John Candy. She also played Mike Myers's dream woman in "Wayne's World."
With Dan Aykroyd, she had three daughters named Danielle Alexandra, Belle Kingston and Stella Irene. Although she retired from acting in 1996, she had a brief part in an episode of Dan's short-lived ABC series, "Soul Man" in 1997.
