The Owens Apartment House (or Owens Street Apartments as it is sometimes called) is a local apartment complex in Ashford Falls, New York. It is located on Commerce Street between Owens Street and Gwynne Street, west of the town square.
Constructed by the Olympic Foundation in the 1960s, the apartments were built on the site of the Old Riddle House, one of the old pre-1860s mansions in Ashford Falls. The location includes several structures featuring 120 apartments (48 two-bedroom apartments and 72 one-bedroom apartments) along with laundry rooms on the property open to the tenants and a playground. Although the location has security lights on property, it is also frequently patrolled by Sheriff David Carmichael and by Officer Ted Beauchamp. Since 1989, the apartment manager has been Sarah Brittle, taking over from Mitt Kreischer, who ran the place since it was built.
Since the 1970s, the apartments have always been at full capacity. Built to accommodate couples and small families, it's tenants include Jason Pryde and Marcia Caldwell, Steven Roarke, Melissa Strickland, Alex Iacocca, Amelia Warren, Daphne Brooks, David Truman and Anna Marie Henstridge, Tricia Creekmore and Russell Coleman and Deborah Nordoff. Dr. Angela Harker also briefly lived here during her time in Ashford Falls.
