"If I want to knock a story off the front page, I just change my hairstyle." - Sabrina Collins
Sabrina Collins is the current Mayor of Ashford Falls, New York, a former Senatorial candidate and Albany lawyer. She is also a reputed relative of the Collins Family of Collinsport, Maine, although this assertion has yet to be confirmed.
Born in Tarrytown, New York in 1960, she was one of two children born to William and Lizzie Collins who lived in the small suburb of Sleepy Hollow. Her mother was a medical doctor who supported her autistic father, who spent much of his time researching ancient civilizations for his series of books.
Raised in a household that celebrated academic achievements over athletics, she attended North Tarrytown High School and went on to attend Wellesley College, graduating in 1982. She also earned a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1986. After serving as a congressional legal counsel, she worked for the Dawson, Gordon and Stewart law firm which specialized in women's rights. In 1990, she was encouraged to run for the state senate against Carl Griggs, both losing to the incumbent Mario Cuomo.
In 1995, Collins was approached by Janet DuBois to represent Len Snedeker, who had been rejected for a job teaching car repair at Ashford Falls High School. She was also encouraged by Janet and Bobbi Pierce to run for mayor against Griggs, the local mayor, and break the hold the Hedison family had on the local economy. Unbeknown to anyone, Collins was covertly being supported by Rachel Hedison through the Dynasty Foundation using the election as a smokescreen to seize her father's company. Despite Griggs's efforts to impugh Collins's law career and her liberal causes, Collins still ended up winning the election by a strong margin.
In addition to breaking the Hedison's control over Ashford Falls, Collins also ended another long-term "tradition" in town when finances were secured to convert the long empty Hathaway Mansion into her residence.
